HISTORIC DAY OF ROYALTY AND CULTURE: CELEBRATING A MAN OF THE PEOPLE, HRH DR BENSON MADUBUKO, OFR (EZEANI CHINECHENDO) ON THE OCCASION OF HIS CORONATION AS TRADITIONAL RULER OF ADAZI-ANI KINGDOM

Today, Saturday, 22nd August 2026, Adazi-Ani community stands at the threshold of history as sons and daughters of the community, dignitaries, traditional rulers, political leaders, friends, and well-wishers from far and wide gather in an unprecedented celebration of culture, heritage, and royalty.

Indeed, on this remarkable day, what appears to be the largest cultural assembly in the history of Anambra State will be witnessed during the coronation of distinguished philanthropist, community builder, and quintessential man of the people, HRH Dr Chinedu Benson Madubuko, OFR (Ezeani Chinechendo) as the Traditional Ruler of Adazi-Ani community in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

This event is more than a coronation, it is a celebration of public service, selflessness, philanthropy, and an investment. Ezeani Chinechendo has over the years offered his time, talents, and wealth to develop and better the community and people of Adazi-Ani. Thus, his day of coronation is in itself a recognition of his great impact, a validation of his hard work, and a celebration of a man who has served with integrity and whose efforts have been acknowledged and appreciated by the people of Adazi-Ani.

As Adazi-Ani people crown their new traditional ruler, it is a day to celebrate not just the people of Adazi-Ani and the impact of the new monarch, but a day to celebrate the Igbo people, their culture, and the massive outpouring of love and appreciation from people of Anambra State, and beyond, which is a testimony to the impact of this great leader, Ezeani Chinechendo. Indeed, this is a recognition of a life of service and a legacy that has earned him the respect, affection, and confidence of his people.

With profound joy, therefore, I extend my warmest congratulations to him on this historic occasion of his coronation as the Traditional Ruler of Adazi-Ani. This elevation to the revered throne can be described as the climax of his years of unparalleled philanthropy and community service. He has put in remarkable energy and resources towards the development of the Adazi-Ani community. The event is scheduled for Saturday, 22nd August, 2026.

This road to the royalty has a long, brilliant history. In his capacity as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of De Chico Investment Limited, he distinguished himself as an accomplished entrepreneur exhibiting adroitness in the building materials industry. Through his business and industry, he created employment and promoted indigenous enterprise, thereby contributing immensely to Nigeria’s economic growth.

Beyond his outstanding success in business, his greatest legacy lies in his extraordinary social responsibility and compassion for humanity. His Zeph Care Foundation has brought reprieve to hundreds of youths, widows, students, artisans, and less privileged members of society. It is in the public domain that the Zeph Care Foundation has provided scholarships, medical assistance, business capital, vocational training, and life-changing empowerment to numerous people.

His transformative investments in the development of Adazi-Ani stand as enduring monuments to community service, and we can list some:

1. From 2021-2025 alone, he funded the Zeph Care Foundation Empowerment Program with N100million for which of 738 persons benefitted with assistance ranging from N50,000 to N1million.

1. Between 2017 and October 2021, the Port Harcourt chapter of the Foundation assisted a total of 704 persons with various sums totalling N67.6 million. The areas of assistance included:

-Skill Acquisition.

-Medical Assistance.

-Low-Seed Capital Assistance.

-Widows Empowerment & other less privileged adults, – Scholarship to students in tertiary institutions, etc.

1. He constructed and asphalted 21 roads measuring 14.62 km with precast drainages in the 3 clans in Adazi-Ani community. These roads were commissioned by the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, on 10th February, 2024.

1. In 2024, he provided agricultural training for 2 nominees each from the 45 council wards in Adazi-Ani and equipped them with 2 bags of 50kg NPK fertilizers and cassava stems for cultivation. These trainees were empowered with a seed fund of N50,000 each. He further 200 bags of fertilizers were also distributed to other community members.

1. In the same year, 2024, he conducted a massive community empowerment with the distribution of 60 tricycle tippers to deserving members in the community.

1. He also distributed sewing machines.

1. In the same year, 2024, it was a joyful Christmas for the recipients in the Adazi-Ani community with the distribution of 650 bags of 25kg rice.

1. In 2024 and 2025, he provided a total of 170 Solar powered streetlights for Adazi-Ani community.

There are other numerous interventions that have redefined community development and improved the quality of life of his people. But his social responsibility is not limited to his community, as these educational interventions boldly show:

1. He constructed the 700-seater auditorium for the Faculty of Social Sciences at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, which was commissioned by the Pro-Chancellor in 2025.

1. He facilitated and funded the building of the University Entrance Gate at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, Anambra State.

1. He is funding scholarships for many indigent students.

He is a man of numerous honours. He is a recipient of the prestigious National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) in 2023. In 2024, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka at the 18th Convocation Ceremonies held on 31st May, 2024 conferred on him Doctorate Degree on Entrepreneurship & Humanitarian services(Honoris Causa). Earlier in 2022, he became Sun Newspapers “ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD 2021.” These distinguished awards are eloquent affirmations of a life devoted to excellence, service, and nation-building.

For over three decades, he has exemplified diligence, integrity, humility, excellence, and uncommon business acumen. It is worthy to acknowledge that these generous interventions, running into several million naira, have restored hope where despair once prevailed. These selfless actions have now become enduring testimonies of genuine love for your people and mankind. He is indeed a man of the people.

As he ascends the revered throne of his forefathers, I am confident that his reign will usher in an era of greater unity, peace, justice, sustainable development, and prosperity for Adazi-Ani. His uncommon wisdom, large-heartedness, and passion for the welfare of his people will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on the history of the community.

Now my prayers:

May God continue to bless him, his beloved wife, Her Royal Majesty, Chinelo Madubuko, and his five lovely children.

May the Almighty God grant him robust health, divine wisdom, strength, and long life.

May God grant him abundant grace as you begin this sacred responsibility.

May his reign be peaceful and impactful, while your legacy continues to inspire the living and generations unborn.
