When culture calls, some leaders respond with words; but High Chief Duru Mike Ejiogu (Onowu Anara ) responded with action. At the Ogwuaga Abba New Yam Festival held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate for Imo North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections donated the sum of Two Million Naira – only (=N=2M) – to support the celebration.

The gesture by the doyen of real estate business, uncommon philanthropist and respected community leader—Ejiogu—added a strong note of support to a festival that continues to preserve the cultural pride, Igbo rich traditional heritage and cosmology

The Ogwuaga Abba New Yam Festival brought together members of the community and guests in a celebration of harvest, heritage and thanksgiving. Against that cultural backdrop, High Chief Duru Mike Ejiogu’s ₦2 million cash donation stood out as a practical expression of solidarity with the people and their traditions. Rather than allowing culture to remain merely a subject of speeches, the contribution provided tangible support for a celebration through which the community reconnects with its roots and passes its heritage from one generation to another.
