Abians, Nigerians expectant as Gov Otti speaks to them today
By Charles Ogugbuaja, Ph.D.
As usual, any day the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, slates to speak to his people, the atmosphere is always filled with avalanche of expectations.
As usual, any day in each of the 12 months of the year the governor schedules to spare, out of his busy schedules, all Abians always remain in good mood, before, during and after the governor’s two – hour (usually, 7p.m.-9p.m.) inclusivity driven session with them via various spontaneous and delayed feedback platforms (electronic, print and new media, phone calls and text messages inclusive) until concluded. This is because, every word the governor says during the briefing with question and answer session, is loaded with hope of a transformed Abia State.
Also, in Abia State, every law abiding resident, both indigene and non indigene residing in any part of the 17 local government areas of the state, is regarded as an Abian, and so, accorded the rights and privileges therein. Visitors and investors are also offered the opportunities and environment to stay happily and transact their businesses in the state, provided they obey the laws of the land.
In keeping with his avowed commitment to remain accountable to the people, and transparent in governance of Abia State, His Excellency, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, will today, Thursday, 29th January, 2026 continue his monthly media interaction with journalists, as a way of reaching Abians, South East people and Nigerians in general, through the programme, captioned, “Gov Alex Otti Speaks to Abians.” Any listener or viewer is also free to contribute during the programme.
A statement to that effect was issued on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, and made available to the media, putting the venue at Banquet Hall, Government House, Umuahia at 7p. m.
The release noted that the media parley is a “no – holds – barred” conversation which usually provides the governor the platform to highlight the major strides of his administration, providing clarity of policies and programmes of the government under his watch, while taking feedback that enables him to serve the people of the state better.
The statement stated that the interaction would be aired live on about 18 conventional radio stations, and streamed real time on other online platforms. The radio stations are Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA), 88.1 FM, Umuahia; Flow 94.9; Family Love, 99.9 FM; Enyimba, 94.5 FM; Magic, 102.9; Vision Africa, 104.1; Real FM, 99.1; Boss FM, Aba
Others are Sun FM, 91.3, Igbere; Sun FM, 91.9 Aba; Zik 96.3; Spin, 95.3; Rapid, 96.5; Pacesetter, 103.5; Brass, 89.7; Masters, 105.6; Don 103.7; Skills 87.7 FM; adding that the interaction would also be streamed real time on major online platforms.
The choice of engaging an inclusive and broad -based radio and online platforms is to enable many persons within and outside the state opportunity to listen to Governor Otti talk and answer questions from journalists, and even listeners and viewers concerning what he has executed in the last one month, recapping the previous months and years, where necessary.
This pattern of rendering accountability transparently to the people who elected the governor is as old as the inception of the Otti Administration.
His Excellency believes that as a servant leader, he must constantly deliver the needed dividend of democracy via such mechanisms.
In view of the foregoing, Abians, the people of the Southeast geo political zone and Nigerians in general are enjoined to participate during the programme today, Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 7p m.
Thank you and God bless us.
