Former Spokesperson of the Imo APP Cajetan Duke Withdraws from contesting Ngor-Okpala State Constituency Election
CAJETAN DUKE WITHDRAWS FROM NGOR-OKPALA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY SEAT, GIVES REASONS
A former Spokesperson of the Imo APP, Mr. Cajetan Duke JP has announced his withdrawal from contesting the Ngor- Okpala State Constituency Seat in the 2027 general elections.
In a well written withdrawal notice a copy which was made available to the public and obtained by 4th Estate Reporters, he was captured to have stated inter- alia:
With a heart weighed down by deep emotion and painful reflection, I hereby formally announce the withdrawal of my aspiration to represent the good, resilient, and enterprising people of Ngor Okpala State Constituency under the platform of the Action People’s Party (APP).
This decision did not come easy. My aspiration, which was born out of genuine passion to serve our people and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ngor Okpala, unfortunately met stiff resistance within the political process. Following consultations and appeals from the leadership of our great party urging me to step down in favour of a consensus arrangement, I have chosen, after careful deliberation, to abide by the directive in the spirit of sportsmanship, party loyalty, and the larger interest of Ndi Ngor Okpala.
I must sincerely confess that this moment is painful, emotionally draining, and deeply humbling, especially considering the sacrifices, contributions, commitment, and personal investments I have made towards the growth, survival, and strengthening of the APP in Ngor Okpala in particular and Imo State in general. However, leadership also demands sacrifice, restraint, and the ability to place collective interest above personal ambition.
My aspiration was never driven by selfish ambition or the desperate quest for power. It was inspired by a sincere desire to use the legislative arm of government as a platform to speak boldly for our people, defend their interests, champion development, and restore the pride and voice of Ngor Okpala. As Onyeozi Ngor Okpala, I firmly believe that my competencies, experience, exposure, and passion for service would have translated into remarkable legislative representation admired across Imo State and beyond.
Though this outcome may not align with the hopes and expectations of many of my supporters, I remain optimistic that the future still holds great opportunities for service. No sacrifice made for peace, unity, and political stability is ever in vain. Better days surely lie ahead for Ngor Okpala, and I remain committed to the collective struggle for the advancement and political emancipation of our people.
I wish to specially appreciate the State Executive Committee of our party under the leadership of Hon. Ernest Njesi for their support, encouragement, and recognition of my contributions to the growth of the APP. I remain grateful for the opportunity to have contributed my quota to the building of our party structure and democratic ideals.
To the leader of our great party and my beloved senior brother, Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, I hold your leadership and decision in the highest regard. Though painful, I have chosen to accept and abide by your position with maturity and loyalty. Politics demands endurance, sacrifice, and patience. No pain, no gain — we move!
In the same vein, I deeply appreciate my senior brother and leader, Okenze Blyden Amajirionwu, for his unwavering support, encouragement, and commitment throughout this journey. Your belief in my vision and capacity to serve will never be forgotten. I sincerely pray that you accept this difficult decision in the overall best interest of Ndi Ngor Okpala. Indeed, no sacrifice is too big when the future of our people is at stake.
To the leadership and members of Onyeozi Ngor Okpala Support Group, my kinsmen, friends, political associates, and the countless well-meaning Ndi Ngor Okpala who stood firmly with me without inducement or conditions, I remain eternally grateful. Your solidarity, prayers, encouragement, and belief in my vision have strengthened me beyond words. By the grace of God, this journey has not ended; it has only taken a different path. The dream of a better, stronger, and more prosperous Ngor Okpala remains alive.
Signed:
Cajetan Duke, JP
Onyeisi Ngor Okpala.
