BRIEF PROFILE OF SOLUDO’S COMMISSIONER FOR LANDS NOMINEE:
PROF. OFFORNZE D. AMUCHEAZI, SAN, FCArb, FICIArb, FICMC
Prof. Offornze D. Amucheazi, SAN, is a Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria with 34+ years in legal practice and academia. He has taught at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and is a founding partner at Amucheazi, Ozioko & Co., Abuja and Enugu.
A longstanding member of the Nigerian Bar Association, he has served as Member of the Council of Legal Education, Member of the NBA National Executive Committee, amongst other technical committees of the NBA. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators, and the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators. He also holds certificates in Strategic Leadership from Oxford University and Constitution Building in Africa from Central European University, Budapest.
Prof. Amucheazi has held key public policy roles, including Consultant/Special Assistant to former CBN Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on the Africa Finance Corporation, Legal Expert at the National Assembly’s PARP, and pioneering Legal Adviser at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS). From 2012–2019, he was Lead Consultant to the Senate Committee on the 1999 Constitution Review and has consulted for the World Bank on regulatory compliance and legislative reform.
His expertise spans labour law, arbitration, and ADR. He is a recognized arbitrator and serves on the editorial boards of the LCA Dispute Resolution Journal, and other reputable journals.
A prolific author, his publications cover labour law, arbitration, and constitutional law, including Thematic Issues in Nigerian Arbitration Law and Practice and Employment and Labour Law in Nigeria.
Since April 2022, he has served as Commissioner for Lands in Anambra State. Under his leadership, the ministry launched the Anambra Geographic Information System (ANAMGIS), digitizing land records, simplifying Certificates of Occupancy, boosting IGR, and strengthening transparency and dispute resolution through mediation and ICT reforms.
Prof. Amucheazi continues to shape Nigeria’s legal practice, dispute resolution, and public policy through a blend of academic rigor and practical governance experience.
