On Tuesday, June 2, 2026— the atmosphere across the Niger Delta was filled with color, rhythm, and renewed hope as communities gathered to mark World Sekurō Day a cultural and peace-driven celebration dedicated to unity, reconciliation, and youth reorientation. The event once again reaffirmed its place as a powerful platform where tradition meets modern influence in the pursuit of lasting peace.

The occasion was graced by respected traditional leadership, with His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Tom, The Great, receiving wide commendation for his continued commitment to peace-building, community stability, and youth empowerment. His message centered on forgiveness, progress, and the need for young people to embrace education, creativity, and productive engagement over violence and division.
A major highlight of the 2026 celebration was a thrilling live performance by Nigeria’s iconic music legend, 2Baba. His electrifying stage presence and timeless songs transformed the event into a moment of deep emotional connection, as thousands of attendees sang along in unity. The performance carried a strong message of peace, resilience, and national togetherness perfectly aligning with the spirit of Sekurō Day.

The festival also featured traditional dancers, cultural troupes, and emerging artists who showcased the richness of Niger Delta heritage. Beyond entertainment, the event served as a forum for dialogue on peace, development, and the future of the region’s youth, drawing attention to the importance of cultural identity as a tool for stability and growth.

As the celebration concluded, the echoes of music, culture, and unity lingered in the air. World Sekurō Day 2026 stood as a reminder that peace is not only possible but sustainable when culture, leadership, and music come together in harmony.
