Ken Erics, born Ekenedilichukwu Ugochukwu Eric Nwenweh on February 28, 1985, is a renowned Nigerian actor, writer, producer, musician, and politician. He hails from Anambra State and has made significant contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry, particularly Nollywood. With a degree in Theatre Arts and a master’s degree in Theatre and Film Studies from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Erics has built a diverse career spanning film, music, and literature. He gained widespread recognition for his role in “The Illiterate” and has continued to captivate audiences with his performances and artistic endeavours.

Ken Erics was born in Kano, Nigeria, and is the sixth of seven children. His parents, Eric Chukwuemeka Nwenweh and Grace Ifeyinwa Nwenweh, are originally from Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State. Erics showed a passion for the arts from a young age, which led him to pursue a degree in Theatre Arts at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. His educational background provided a solid foundation for his career in the entertainment industry. While at university, he was involved in various stage productions, honing his acting skills. He also holds a master’s degree in Theatre and Film Studies, which has further enriched his understanding of the performing arts.

Ken Erics’ career began in 2001 with a minor role in the movie “Holy Prostitute.” However, it was his portrayal of Ugo in the 2012 film “The Illiterate” that brought him into the limelight. This role showcased his talent and opened up numerous opportunities in Nollywood. Over the years, Erics has appeared in various films such as “Okafor’s Law,” “Burning Bridges,” and “Trials of Igho.” He has acted alongside notable actors like Tonto Dikeh, Yul Edochie, and Desmond Elliot. In addition to acting, Erics is a writer; his first published work, “Cell 2,” is used in Nigerian tertiary institutions for academic purposes. He has also contributed to movie soundtracks, demonstrating his musical talents.

Ken Erics has received several awards for his contributions to Nollywood. In 2014, he won the Best Supporting Actor at the City People Entertainment Awards and the Best Lead Actor at the Afrifimo Awards in the United States. The following year, he won the Best Lead Actor at the City People Entertainment Awards again. His performance in “The Illiterate” was particularly acclaimed, cementing his status as one of Nollywood’s leading actors. Erics’ achievements extend beyond acting; he has also made his mark as a musician. In 2018, he released his first music single, “Inozikwa Omee,” which was well-received by his fans.
