RE-SHAPING EDUCATION AT THE GRASS-ROOT: MAYOR OF AGUATA LGA SET TO HOST 2026 AGUATA EDUCATION DAY

The Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike is delighted to announce the 2026 Celebration of Aguata Education Day.

The Aguata Education Day is an event designed for the celebration of teachers serving in both primary and secondary schools located in the fourteen communities in Aguata LGA, in appreciation for their resilience, commitment to duty and efforts to shape the lives of young people in Aguata.

Numerous outstanding teachers will be rewarded for their zeal and professionalism as the Mayor and his team continue to deepen their efforts to make impact in the education of young people in Aguata LGA.

The event will equally feature:

• Announcement of the winner of the Evergreen Quest (the best pupil in public primary schools in Aguata LGA will be rewarded with a six year scholarship worth of ₦36 Million covering tuition, accomodation, school wears, feeding, etc) to study at Evergreen College, Enugu, including expository trips abroad.

• Announcement of the winner of the 2026 Aguata Best Student Challenge (the best student in secondary schools in Aguata LGA will be rewarded with scholarship support, brand new laptop computer, etc)

The event will be honoured with the presence of the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, Prof. Kate Omenugha, as the Keynote Speaker, as well as the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr Ekene Ogugua.

According to the Mayor, “encouraging quality teaching and learning at the grass-root is a part of our #AGreaterAguata agenda on education.In an unprecedented manner, we will celebrate our teachers – those who shape the future of our young people”.
