Former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State and former Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Rivers State and South-South, Amb. Chijoke Ihunwo, has extended warm birthday felicitations to the former Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Dr. Peter Odili, celebrating him as a distinguished statesman whose years of public service have left a significant imprint on the political and developmental history of the state.

In a goodwill message marking the occasion, Amb. Ihunwo described Dr. Odili as a leader whose journey from medicine into public service reflects a life shaped by commitment, responsibility and service to humanity.

According to him, birthdays of leaders of Dr. Odili’s stature provide more than an opportunity for celebration; they offer a moment to reflect on the contributions, experiences and values that have defined their years in public life.

“Today, I celebrate not only an elder statesman and former governor, but a man whose name has become part of the political and developmental history of Rivers State. Your journey in medicine and public service speaks to a life dedicated to the wellbeing of humanity and the advancement of society,” Ihunwo said.

He particularly acknowledged Dr. Odili’s contributions to the development of Rivers State during his tenure as governor, noting that his administration remains an important chapter in the state’s evolving history.

Amb. Ihunwo further described Dr. Odili as a respected elder whose wealth of experience continues to make his voice relevant in conversations about leadership, governance and the future of Rivers State.

He said the celebration of Dr. Odili’s birthday should also serve as a reminder of the importance of experience and institutional memory in building a stronger society, particularly at a time when younger generations increasingly seek the guidance of accomplished leaders.

“Leadership is ultimately measured not only by the offices one occupies, but by the footprints left behind and the lives touched along the way. Your Excellency, your years in public service have given you a place in the story of Rivers State that history will continue to examine and remember,” he added.

The former NYCN Rivers and South-South chairman prayed God Almighty to continue to preserve Dr. Odili in sound health, grant him renewed strength and wisdom, and bless him with many more years of peace, fulfilment and purposeful living.

“May this new chapter bring you greater peace, excellent health, happiness and fulfilment. May God continue to preserve you, strengthen you and surround you with grace as you advance in years.

“Happy Birthday to you, Your Excellency, Sir Dr. Peter Odili. Rivers State celebrates a son, Nigeria celebrates a statesman, and humanity celebrates a life of service.”

Signed:
