During the weekend, the people of Ngor Okpala Local Government Area in the Imo East Senatorial District witnessed not just the return of an illustrious son, respected community leader, and influential political figure, but the home- coming of a man deeply connected to his roots—Dr. Matthew Chima Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu)— a scholar of international repute, rare philanthropist, serial entrepreneur, good governance advocate, and founder of The Mazi Organization (TMO). The heart-warming scene, once again demonstrated why many across Imo State continue to see him as a symbol of responsive and people-oriented leadership.

Arriving through the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, Dr. Amadi chose not the comfort of official convoy or elite movement, but the familiar path of the ordinary people. Welcomed warmly by commercial motorcyclists and residents, he rode through the difficult roads of Orisheze in Ngor Okpala on a motorcycle, identifying directly with the daily realities faced by the people.

The journey through the deplorable roads became more than a simple visit; it was a powerful statement of solidarity. It reflected the humility and grassroots connection that have continued to define Dr. Amadi’s growing influence in Aboh Mbaise/Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Mbaise/Ikeduru/Mbaitoli/Ngor- Okpala/Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West LGAs and across Imo State. For many residents, seeing a leader willing to experience their hardship first-hand renewed their hope that true leadership still exists.

During the visit, the revered Ndi Nze, Ichie, and Obilobi of Ozuzu offered prayers and blessings upon him, while the Orisheze community received him with warmth and expectation. In a move that further underscored his commitment to community development, Dr. Amadi announced a whooping ₦15 million intervention package targeted at supporting market women and providing a long-awaited borehole project for the community.

The visit also witnessed a significant political moment as respected stakeholder, Chief Casmir Nneji (Oputa Ohanaze), publicly aligned with the movement, signaling growing confidence in the vision being championed by Dr. Mathew Chima Amadi to represent Imo East Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the Action Peoples Party (APP) where the oppressed and marginalized have identified to register their grievances at the polls.

Over the years, Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi has distinguished himself beyond politics. A Chevening Scholar of the London School of Economics, he has built a reputation in public policy, democratic governance, entrepreneurship, and humanitarian services

Through The Mazi Organization and his foundation initiatives, he has empowered youths, women, and students across Imo State through scholarships, business support programs, healthcare assistance, and community development projects. His recent educational interventions and grassroots empowerment schemes have further strengthened his standing as a leader focused on human capital development.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Amadi emphasized that good roads, clean water, and basic infrastructure are not privileges but necessities every community deserves. He assured residents that the era of neglect must come to an end and pledged continued commitment toward rebuilding communities that have suffered years of abandonment.

Indeed, his motorcycle ride through the difficult roads of Orisheze may have lasted only a few hours, but the message it delivered remains powerful leadership is not about distance from the people, but closeness to their struggles.

As conversation around the future of Imo East Senatorial District continues to gather momentum ahead 2027 National Assembly Elections , many residents now see Mazi Gburugburu not just as a political messiah , but a leader whose strength lies in his ability to listen, connect, address issues and act upon them with courage and expected results.
