MEDIA LOCKOUT UNACCEPTABLE: ENYIMBA FC CONDEMNS TREATMENT OF ACCREDITED JOURNALISTS IN ABA
Enyimba Football Club has strongly condemned the unprofessional conduct of the Match Commissioner during our Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 26 fixture against Ikorodu City, played on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, which resulted in accredited journalists being denied access to the stadium.
The club views the incident as unfortunate, unacceptable, and inconsistent with the standards of professionalism expected in the Nigeria Premier Football League. Enyimba FC wishes to categorically state that the decision to lock out duly accredited members of the media was neither initiated nor sanctioned by the club or any of its officials.
As a club with a proud history and deep respect for the role of the media in the growth and global visibility of Nigerian football, we recognize that sports journalists are critical stakeholders in the game. Their work not only informs and educates fans but also enhances transparency, accountability, and commercial value within the league.

Enyimba FC sincerely regrets the inconvenience and embarrassment this development may have caused the affected journalists and media organizations. We fully empathize with their frustration and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to maintaining a cordial and professional relationship with the media at all times.
The management of Enyimba FC is already engaging the appropriate league authorities to seek clarification on the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure that such an occurrence does not repeat itself in future fixtures at our home ground or elsewhere.
We appeal to our supporters, media partners, and the wider football community to remain calm as the matter is being addressed through the proper channels.
Enyimba FC remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and collaboration in the continued development of the NPFL.
Signed:
Enyimba FC Management
