It was a moment of pride, recognition, and quiet celebration for Nigeria’s indigenous manufacturing sector when former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, H.E. Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, paid a facility tour visit to the factories of High Chief Goodwill Ebere Uzozie (Onwa Umuobum)— Chairman of G.U Ebeco Industries Ltd— manufacturers of Bella Foams— last weekend.

Accompanied by members of his family, the distinguished Senator and former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, took time out of his demanding schedules to tour the facilities, interacted with the workforce as he witnessed firsthand, the remarkable progress being made by the thriving homegrown enterprises.
The visit, though personal in nature, carried profound significance. In a time when the conversation around economic growth increasingly revolves around strengthening local production and encouraging Nigerian businesses, the presence of a national figure of Senator Kalu’s stature within the production floors of G.U Ebeco Group and Bella Foams stood as a symbolic nod to the resilience and promise of indigenous industries.
Moving through different sections of the factories, the former governor showed genuine interest in the processes that drive the companies’ operations; from raw- material handling to the final stages of furniture production. Members of staff and management welcomed him warmly as he engaged them in friendly conversations, asking questions and observing the dedication and craftsmanship that define the work being carried out within the facilities.

For the management and staff of G.U Ebeco Industries Ltd, and Bella Foams, the visit was received with deep appreciation and gratitude. Hosting a distinguished national leader like Senator Kalu, they noted, reflects the growing recognition of locally built enterprises that continue to invest in innovation, quality production, and job creation within Nigeria’s manufacturing ecosystem.

During the interaction, Senator Kalu expressed admiration for the scale of work being done and encouraged the management to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence. His words of encouragement, coupled with his keen interest in the production process, served as a morale booster to the team whose daily efforts sustain the operations of the companies.
Over the years, G.U Ebeco Industries Ltd and Bella Foams have steadily built a reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and innovation in furniture production. Their commitment to maintaining high standards while embracing modern production techniques has positioned them among the notable indigenous brands contributing to Nigeria’s growing industrial landscape.
For the workforce, the visit carried an inspiring message, that the work they do each day resonates far beyond the factory walls. Seeing a leader of national prominence walk through their workspace, acknowledged their efforts, and encouraged their progress served as a powerful reminder of the role local industries play in shaping Nigeria’s economic future.
As the visit drew to a close, the management of G.U Ebeco and Bella Foams expressed profound gratitude to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and his family for the honour of their presence. They described the moment as both inspiring and reaffirming, pledging to remain steadfast in their commitment to excellence, innovation, and service.

In the broader narrative of Nigeria’s industrial development, such visits do more than exchange pleasantries, they highlight the growing confidence in Nigerian enterprise and the determination of local manufacturers to keep raising the bar in quality production, innovation, and economic contribution to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
